A SCOOTER rider has died in a crash at Apse Heath and a woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision on Newport Road near the Isle of Wight Scooter Rally base at Sandown Airport.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "We were called just before 9.40pm last night (Thursday) to reports of a road traffic collision on Newport Road, Apse Heath.
"This involved a scooter and a car and sadly the rider of the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A 36-year-old woman from Ventnor has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She remains in custody at this time.
"Road closures were put in place last night and these have now been lifted."
Officers are investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.
