Isle of Wight Police have announced that Apse Heath main road will reopen this morning (Friday) following a crash last night (Thursday).

They anticipate the section of road, from Morrison's Roundabout to Apse Heath Roundabout, will reopen around 7.30am.

They say scooters, arriving today for the Isle of Wight Scooter Rally, can already access Sandown Airport, where the event is based this year, if they approach from the Morrisons end.

Police thanked motorists for their patience since the main thoroughfare was closed last night.

It has been described as serious by police.
