WELCOME changes have been announced to the traffic and pedestrian arrangements at Ryde Interchange ahead of the August bank holiday weekend.
See traffic map below
Traffic arrangements in the area, at the heart of a major, year-long highway transformation programme, will be adjusted to help ease traffic and travel, including for many scooterists attending this year’s Scooter Rally.
St Thomas’ Street, which has been one-way for southbound traffic in the last few months, will revert to two-way traffic to ease travel in the area.

A temporary pedestrian walkway will be built alongside the work site near the bus station to enable people to reach Western Gardens more easily.
The walkway will be removed after the weekend to allow work to restart but will be reinstated ahead of the Tour of Britain cycle race on Sunday, September 11.
St Thomas’ Street will continue to be two-way for the rest of the works.
Work on the footpath outside the front of LA Bowl is nearing completion, and all fencing and work materials will be removed from this area on Friday (August 26).
New traffic islands along the Esplanade, opposite Ryde Castle, have also been completed.
Cllr Phil Jordan, the Cabinet member for transport, said: “Our contractors at Island Roads have been working hard to ensure that these changes could be brought in before the bank holiday weekend when so many residents and visitors will be wanting to enjoy the Scooter Rally and other events taking place in Ryde.”
