An Isle of Wight teacher, a vice principal, and a family liaison officer were among the team from St Catherine’s School to brave a fundraising skydive.

Andy Gibbins, Jenn Snaith, and Lucy Reed were joined by an occupational therapist and the school's fundraising and marketing assistant, on their charity challenge.

In all, 15 people took part in the tandem jump, in aid of the Ventnor school which supports children and young adults with speech, language and communication needs.

They took off from Sandown Airport and 'fell' 10,000ft to raise funds.

Tanya Smith, event organiser, said: "St Catherine’s is such an amazing school and it was so humbling to see the others take on the challenge.

"Some had a fear of heights and even struggled getting on the plane.

"To see them all take part and overcome their fear was so lovely - doing so while raising funds for St Catherine’s."

The fundraising total so far is £11,359.49.

The school has thanked the team at Skydive IOW.
