THOUSANDS of homes on the Island are without power this afternoon (Monday, August 22) following a major power cut.

A power outage has been reported in areas including Godshill, Arreton, Apse Health and the outskirts of Newport and Shanklin.
The outage was reported to the Scottish and Southern Electricity Network (SSEN) at 2.44pm.
Around 120 postcodes have been affected.
An engineer is on their way to repair, with SSEN aiming to restore power by 6pm.
Home affected are scattered across PO30, PO36, PO38, PO39 postcodes.
- UPDATE (5pm):
Engineers are now on site, working to meet the 6pm target.
The number of affected postcodes has been reduced to just five in the Newchurch area.
- UPDATE (8.30pm):
Power has been restored at all properties in East Wight.
Another power outage has been reported in West Wight, with a handful of postcodes affected in Shalfleet, Ningwood and Hamstead this evening.
SSEN says an engineer is on site.
