Regarding Isle of Wight restaurant defends lack of vegan options (CP online, 11-08-22) about The Kitchen at London House.
I’m sorry to hear of anyone experiencing what they feel to be cyber bullying. I agree bullying is the least persuasive way to get anyone to do anything.
Nonetheless, in the middle of a heatwave and hosepipe ban we have to wake up to the fact our food choices cause more harm than our transport ones.
Not to mention the poor physical state we’re in as a direct result, with each generation becoming unhealthier — the number of five-year-olds starting school obese went up by 50 per cent last year (with the poorest worst affected).
We can all benefit from wholefood plant-based food choices and I would urge restaurant owners to consider whether they’re helping or hindering on our enormous environmental and health challenges.
A well-chosen vegan option will be delicious, climate and waistline-friendly and what’s not to like about that?
As an NHS doctor it’s easy to feel like a voice in the wilderness.
Articles giving space to the idea vegans are a militant minority, who need to stick to their own restaurants, is unhelpful on a challenge that should be uniting all of us.
