A MAJOR road in Ryde could be closed for another week, Island Road has announced.
Queen's Road was originally supposed to be one-way for ten weeks to allow for repairs to a wall - more than a year after the stone wall collapsed.
However, on Friday, a blocked sewer on Queen's Road meant it had to be closed in both directions, causing heavy traffic around the town at one of the busiest times of the year.
Island Roads said at the time: "Southern Water will be working hard over the weekend to resolve the issue. In the meantime, the diversion route is via Argyll Street. There are delays and motorists are advised to avoid this part of the town if possible."
Yesterday (Monday), an update stated that the work wasn't finished.
Island Roads said it hopes the work would be finished by the end of the week but warned it may be early next week.
Ryde is also undergoing works along the seafront for the Ryde Interchange project.
