Three days of thunderstorm warnings have started today (Monday), issued by the Met Office, as the Isle of Wight's latest heatwave comes to an end.

Weather experts say some places will miss the lightning and and thunder, while others will get 20-30 mm of rain within an hour, and maybe 50 mm in less than three hours.

The Met Office added: "There is a low probability that higher totals could occur in a few spots over the course of the day, while hail and frequent lightning are likely additional hazards for some places.

"There is considerable uncertainty at this stage in regional and county level focus."

Its warnings run between now and Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, local forecaster, Jamie Russell, said it will still be hot - up to 28 Celcius today with some low cloud and hill fog to start, brighter spells developing, and the odd localised shower.

In his forceast for the IW Met Service, he was not expecting rain for the Island today.
