VENTNOR Comic Jazz Band — walking the wrong way in their usual style — heralded the start of the town's popular carnival.
Fresh from the Queen's Platinum Jubilee pageant in London, the band led the way around Ventnor.
There followed a succession of floats, bands and some imaginative individual entries.

The Nixon family went regal with a jubilee theme, while St Catherine's School went back to the 80s in a retro fluorescent style.
The Spyglass Inn brought out their pirate ship and Fan TC Con promoted their upcoming event.
The Ventnor Carnival float had the theme "Our World Their Future" with star and moon chairs and a huge globe.
Seafront businesses and Ventnor Town Council got together to pay for a fabulous fireworks display at the harbour afterwards.
