THE crew of a swamped day-boat received assistance from Cowes RNLI lifeboat during Cowes Week this afternoon (Tuesday).
Although the boat, a Flying 15, crewed by a man and a women, was initially taken in
tow by another boat, assistance was requested when the operation became untenable, a spokesperson for the lifeboat said.
The lifeboat launched just before 2pm and conveyed the couple to Trinity Landing.
Meanwhile a marker buoy was placed over the the sunken Flying 15, to await recovery
tomorrow (Wednesday).
The lifeboat returned to station just before 3pm.
The lifeboat was paged yesterday (Monday) at 4.42pm, to assist a man who received a head and neck injury aboard a 10m racing yacht. The accident, involving contact with the yacht’s boom, occurred near East Lepe Buoy.
The casualty was treated aboard and taken to Trinity Landing, Cowes. There they were transferred to a waiting ambulance.
The lifeboat returned to station at 5.37pm.
