Lauran Hibberd, who grew up in Cowes, attended Carisbrooke High School and still lives on the Island, released her new single ‘That Was A Joke’ on July 22.
Lauran explained: “That Was A Joke lives in a world of denial, and sometimes it’s better like that.
“I feel like it could be a soundtrack on an early noughties kids show.
“It felt like a good track to leak (ahead of the album release), because I can always lean on the title to save my butt if no one likes it.”
Fresh from nationwide dates supporting chart-toppers The Snuts and Stand Atlantic, as well as a sold-out 2021 UK headline tour, the musician's live show has already seen her earn support tours with America’s Hippo Campus and The Regrettes.
Lauran will also be hitting the road this autumn to coincide with the release of her debut album.
Speaking about her album ‘Garageband Superstar’, Lauran said: “Garageband Superstar is dad rock for your daughters.
“If you don't get the feeling of relief similar to the one-off undoing your jeans button after a big meal, I'd feel crushed.
“It's a nod to all of my favourite 90's sub-genres, and the soundtrack to your next favourite trash TV show that no one else gets but you.”
The album features tracks about breaking your leg, falling off rollercoasters, taking off your pants, competing with Red Dead Redemption, boys in supermarkets, writing essays on Facebook walls, people who take leg days seriously and the enigma of being a superstar.
Lauran continued: “Hope you like it. Don't tell me if you don't. I'm insecure”.
Her single is available now on all digital platforms, as will her album from August 19.
