A SHANKLIN man will stand trial later this year, accused of drink-driving in Newchurch.
Christopher Martin, of St John's Road, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Friday (July 29).
The 30-year-old denied drink driving in Newchurch, on July 15, 2022.
James Brookes, defending, said handcuffs had been used inappropriately during Mr Martin's arrest, and it was a significant enough breach for the matter to be struck off.
He said there was no reason for police to "assault" Mr Martin by forcing him to wear handcuffs, and it was an abuse of process.
Mr Brookes said CCTV would need to be analysed by an expert.
Mr Martin saw his case adjourned to October 4, and a trial date fixed for November 15.
Mr Martin was granted unconditional bail.
