THREE vehicles and a hedgerow were on fire in East Cowes this afternoon (Thursday, July 14), prompting an emergency response.

One fire engine from Newport tackled the fire in an alleyway between Princess Close and York Avenue.
The fire started in a hedgerow along the alleyway, near to parked cars.
Fire crews were very concerned as one of the vehicles had a propane gas canister inside.
One of the vehicles has been badly damaged in the fire.
The fire service contacted the police at 2.44pm to request assistance.
Sgt Radford, Isle of Wight Police, said: "Please be aware of a heavy presence of emergency service vehicles in the area."
The fire has been put out and police are taking statements.
