Two new food pantries open on the Isle of Wight

Ventnor's is based at Baby Box, on Victoria Street and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 2pm and 4pm and also on Saturdays, between midday and 2pm.

Ryde's is at Oakfield Primary School on Appley Road, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

The Isle of Wight's first pantry opened in East Cowes in April and quickly gained 60 regular users.

How does a Community Food Pantry on the Isle of Wight work?

A relatively new initiative, food pantries offer members around £15 of food for £5 membership.

Through connect4communities, there are plans to set up five community pantries on the Island.

To join, members fill out an application form and can visit once a week.

The schemes are supported by donations and local businesses, as well as grant money.
