An Isle of Wight councillor is set to appear before magistrates tomorrow on charges of child rape.
Cllr Daryll Pitcher, of Norman Way, Wootton, is facing two charges of raping a child under the age of 16 years.
He is also charged with indecent assault of the same child when the child was under 14.
The offences are historic and are said to have happened when Mr Pitcher, now aged 46, was under 16 himself.
The initial hearing is set for tomorrow morning.
Cllr Pitcher is the member for Wootton on the IW Council.
