With a number of yachts already retired from the Round the Island Race, one has run aground off Ryde.
Ryde Inshore Rescue and Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue have been called to the vessel this afternoon (Saturday).
The tide is falling, which means a long wait before the boat can be refloated, the volunteer rescuers have warned.
Meanwhile, the fastest of the fleet are already nearing the finish line off Cowes, having set off between 8am and 9.30am this morning, while others are rounding St Catherine's Lighthouse, or passing Ventnor.
