Isle of Wight singer songwriter Beth Brookfield has secured the chance to open Isle of Wight Festival's Main Stage, after winning Saturday's Wight Noize battle of the bands.
Although five bands were originally announced as finalists, only four played in Platform One Music College's live final, at Strings in Newport.
The Optimists, Chicks and Greek Tragedies all entertained, but it was Beth Brookfield who won the coveted spot at June's Seaclose Park festival.
Judges deliberated, making their announcement yesterday (Sunday).
Reacting, Beth said on Instagram: "I really cannot believe I get to say this…I AM PLAYING MAINSTAGE AT ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL! 😭😭
"If you had told that 7 year old girl that she would be playing the main stage at 19 she seriously would not have believed you.
"This is a dream come true and I cannot explain how beyond grateful I am to everyone that supports me 🤍.
"With all of my heart I want to thank @platformoneiow for this opportunity, there are no Wight words to describe how much this means to me and I cannot wait for you all to be with me for the journey ✨❤️"
She will play the opening spot on festival Sunday, next month.
All the finalists win a spot on the Platform One Stage and will get industry support from SyncVault and Empire Studios.
The Isle of Wight Festival will bring headliners Lewis Capaldi, Kasabian, MUSE and a host of other acts including The Proclaimers, Paul Heaton and Jaqui Abbott and Del Amitri, to Seaclose Park in Newport, on June 16-19.
