Have you ever walked around Newport and wondered about the secrets hidden within the buildings, lanes and signs you pass?
A new app, launched by the Isle of Wight Story Festival (returning in February 2023), promises to answer your questions with fascinating – and often funny – stories.
Funded by Newport’s Heritage Action Zone, it is being officially launched at the Isle of Wight Walking Festival and will take families on a tour around Newport, to discover the town’s hidden histories.
On this treasure-hunt style walk, participants will search for the locations of different photographs from the app, and will unlock stories of strange shopkeepers, runaway cows, princesses and plague as they go.
