TWO Newport men and a woman have had to pay more than £400 in court fees — for littering in Southampton.

The cases of Antonio Mulas, Matthew Sands and Broni Emery were all heard at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on Thursday (April 7).

Mulas, 52, of Wellesey Way, and Emery, 47, of Westmill Road, both faced charges of littering on Above Bar Street in Southampton.

Mulas was caught on November 20, 2021, and Emery on December 8, 2021.

Sands, 41, of Carisbrooke High Street, faced the same charge, but on an adjoining road — Civic Centre Road — on December 2, 2021.

The court heard the trio threw down, dropped or otherwise deposited litter — namely a cigarette butt — contrary to section 87 of the Environmental Protection Act, 1990.

All three were fined £220, and ordered to pay costs of £168.75 and a £34 surcharge.
