HOURS after it was brought back to the Isle of Wight, following a routine inspection, the Floating Bridge has been damaged.
Windows on the Floating Bridge 6 have been smashed this morning (Monday) as it was put back into its mooring on the East Cowes side of the River Medina.
One eyewitness told the Isle of Wight County Press it happened as the vessel was being manoeuvred back into place by a tug boat.
Battling the tide, it hit the corner of a wall at GKN, puncturing the windows.

Despite this lastest set back, the County Press has been told it will be back on the chains as planned later today.
It is not due to be back in service until a week on Wednesday, however.
An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said: "Whilst manoeuvring the vessel into its temporary berth it made contact with the GKN wall; two windows were broken. These are on the south side of the vessel and will be boarded up tomorrow.
"It is not anticipated that this will impact the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) inspection or return to service date of 13 April 2022."
