It does not have the best reputation when it comes to running to schedule, however, the Isle of Wight chain ferry arrived back in Cowes as planned this morning (Monday).

The Floating Bridge has been undergoing a five-yearly safety inspection at a dry dock facility in Falmouth, Cornwall.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) carried out a full 'out of water survey,' which is a legal requirement for all chain ferries.
As the Isle of Wight County Press reported, Floating Bridge 6 passed its safety checks earlier than expected.

Cllr Phil Jordan, cabinet member for transport and infrastructure, said repainting, work on its electrical systems and an update to its on-board CCTV were also been carried out.
When will the Isle of Wight Floating Bridge chain ferry carry passengers again?
Before it can return to service, Floating Bridge 6 will undergo a final inspection, on Tuesday, April 12.
It is due back on the Cowes and East Cowes route, across the River Medina, on Wednesday, April 13 (a week earlier than planned).
A launch service has been running, for foot passengers and cyclists, and it will continue to cover the start of the school Easter holidays too.
