FOR organisers and leaders in the world of sport on the Island, the return of the Isle of Wight Sports Achievement Awards was a welccome sight at Newport's Medina Theatre this week.

On Thursday evening, the Isle of Wight Sports Foundation hosted the 47th edition of the Island's sporting 'Oscars.'

The event marks the achievements of sportsmen and women, children and coaches. The many dedicated volunteers, who work behind the scenes to keep their clubs thriving, were also honoured.
