Three more people have died in Isle of Wight community settings, after contracting Covid-19.

Two Islanders died in care homes here and one hospice patient died, in the week to March 4.

The number of new cases of coronavirus on the Island are rising again.

The rolling seven day average, per 100,000 people, was 742.7, in the seven days to March 10.

The UK average was 611.5.

In a meeting this week, the Isle of Wight NHS Trust's interim chief executive Darren Cattell warned caution.

He said patients being admitted to St Mary's Hospital in Newport with Covid-19, or testing positive while at the hospital, had doubled.

Covid measures have been relaxed across England, with no requirement to isolate, nor to wear face masks.

Since Monday, the hospital itself has eased some measures, while others remain in force.

Wightlink and Southern Vectis has both been hit by Covid-19 related absence this week, as the Isle of Wight County Press has previously reported.
