TWO Isle of Wight travel services have been hit by a spike in Covid cases today (Tuesday).

Southern Vectis and Wightlink's FastCat have both been affected this morning.

This is due to problems with staff availability.

The last FastCat sailing from Portsmouth departs at 12.15pm.

The final sailing of the day from the Island departs at 12.45pm.

Yesterday, Keith Greenfield for the cross-Solent operator said: “We are all very disappointed that rising numbers of Covid cases have now caused us to make these cancellations which will inconvenience our customers.

“The team is working round the clock to fill gaps in our rosters and to minimise the impact of absences."

Southern Vectis is also expecting cancellations.

A spokesperson for the service said: "Sadly, we have a very high number of our drivers isolating, and this will likely result in some journey cancellations.

"Please check our app or website for up to date, real time information on your journey."
