Cowes Enterprise College has picked up an award from Maritime UK, at a glitzy ceremony in Glasgow.
The Isle of Wight school won the Future Skills Award, sponsored by Trinity House, last night (Thursday).
Rachel Kitley, the Ormiston Trust-run academy's principal, who was at the ceremony, tweeted: "Absolutely overwhelmed to receive this award.
"Such a fantastic team effort. Too many to mention in one tweet!"
The Cowes project beat City College Plymouth and the University of the Highlands and Islands to the accolade.
Ms Kitley tweeted: "Well done to our fellow nominees. What tough competition!"

Local maritime experts, including divers, naval architects and maritime conservationists have been supporting lessons at the Crossfield Avenue school.
Expertise is woven through traditional curriculum subjects and applied to practical projects like boat building, sail design, and presentations on coastal management.
The work is also being developed for schools in in Grimsby, Ipswich and Merseyside and schools in Cornwall are also interested.
