The Isle of Wight has recorded two more deaths as a result of Covid-19 and our rolling averge number of confirmed cases has risen.

A patient died at St Mary's Hospital in Newport on March 7, according to figures released by the NHS.

Data published separately shows there was also a death in a care home here, in the week to February 18.

It means 394 Islanders have died after contracting coronavirus, since March 2020.

Of those, 237 were at St Mary's Hospital and 157 were in community settings, including at home, or in a care home.

What is the Isle of Wight's average rolling rate for Covid?

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases appears to be rising on the Isle of Wight.

171 were added on March 7 (incorporating people who have contracted Covid-19 more than once, 90 days after the first infection).

In the seven days to March 5, there were 468 cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people and the Isle of Wight's rolling average remained higher than the national average, which was 432.3, over the same measure.

One Covid-19 patient was on ventilation in St Mary's Hospital on March 8, meanwhile, and sixteen patients were admitted over the seven days to March 6. On March, 14 patients with Covid-19 remained in hospital.
