ISLANDERS are gathering in Ryde this afternoon (Sunday) in support of Ukraine.
Demonstrations have erupted around the world in recent days, in solidarity with Ukraine and denouncing Russia’s assault on its neighbour.
Now, at 3pm, Isle of Wight residents will gather on the seafront near Ryde Superbowl, to show their support to their "relatives in Ukraine" and record a video.
The invasion has sparked a global outcry and prompted punishing sanctions from the West.
Rallies have been held in cities across the world, calling for an end to the bloodshed.
In Germany, police say more than 100,000 people are taking part in a protest against the Russian invasion in Berlin.
Today, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said she would “absolutely” support British nationals who choose to go to Ukraine to help fight the Russian invasion.
With Russian forces bearing down on Kiev, President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the formation of a new “international legion” to help defend his country.
