FIREFIGHTERS are working to make the parish church in Newchurch safe after Storm Eunice destroyed a weather vane.
A crew from Newport and a senior officer, called out at 8.40am today (Saturday), are in attendance at All Saints' Church, using their aerial ladder platform to make the spire safe.

A weather vane left hanging down the side of the spire was causing a safety hazard to people and property near the church.
The extent of the damage to the church is not known at this stage.
UPDATE 12.35pm
The spire of a church has been made safe by firefighters.
