FAIRLEE Service Station will be closing the fuel pumps and the shop in March.
The service station has sold petrol for 60 years, but owner Simon Flack has decided it is time for his family business to move with the times.
Having been on Fairlee Road for 60 years, Simon feels part of the community but believes the time for selling fuel has passed.
Simon wrote on the Fairlee Service Station website: “We are pleased to announce that the car sales will be expanding, and the Workshop will continue to operate as usual.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing us and putting your trust in our services.
“Our slogan of ‘So much more than just petrol’ has served us well.
"Although you will no longer see this in our advertising, in essence, this remains true – just think of us now as Fairlee ‘so much more, just not petrol!’”
As the station transitions, Simon and the team will keep customers updated through their various online channels.
The Isle of Wight Council has brought back plans to build houses on the entrance of Seaclose Park.
The council is consulting on plans, but they suggest building over the service station.

Simon says that the council has not consulted him on these plans, and that no houses will be built on the site of Fairlee Service Station 'for the foreseeable future'.
