A WEST Wight man accused of a religiously motivated attack on a Muslim, which caused him serious injury, will stand trial on the Isle of Wight in April.
Lachen Downs denied inflicting actual bodily harm (ABH) against Mohammed Rana Sheikh and religiously aggravated assault, inflicting ABH, against the same man — motivated by him being of a member of a Muslim group — on November 10 last year, when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Monday.
The 24-year-old, of Newclose, Thorley, was remanded in custody to reappear for trial at the same venue during the week commencing April 25.
The trial is expected to last up to three days.
