Driving at 74mph in a 40mph has cost one motorist £550.

Ian Urry, 51, of Wray Street, Ryde, admitted speeding on a section of the M6, between junctions 7 and 8, while a temporary traffic order of 40mph was in place.

The offence happened on August 7, 2021, and was recorded by means of an automatic camera device.

The case was heard at Birmingham and Solihull Magistrates' Court on Thursday, January 6.

Mr Urry was fined £400 in his absence, and must pay a £40 surcharge and £110 court costs.

His driving licence was endorsed with six penalty points.
