THE team behind the Isle of Wight’s popular Jack Up music events are launching a new venture — Retro Staycations.

They are providing a unique glamping experience, with stylish airstream trailers for guests to stay in, and regular themed events, at a peaceful spot on a small working farm on the outskirts of Ryde.

The four-acre meadow at Hazelgrove Farm was previously the home of the popular Vintage Vacations.

Opening on April 1, Retro Staycations contains six beautiful American Airstream trailers dating back to the 1940s to the1960s, many with original fittings and fixtures.

The classic caravans are currently being given a vibrant retro style makeover.

Business owners Sarah Moss and Alex Dyke said: “The global pandemic has given rise to a range of behavioural changes.

"Increasingly people are seeking a taste of nostalgia and to escape the complications of modern-day life.

"Jack Up Events is centred around bringing back the music of yesteryear — now we’re offering the chance to relive the glory days by giving people the opportunity to stay in an authentic iconic American Airstream, the coolest caravans in the world!

"These are no ordinary classic caravans. Our sleek, authentic American airstreams are the embodiment of retro style and sophistication.

"You often see these beautiful Airstreams on US film sets and backstage at Britain’s biggest music festivals. However in our pretty rural meadow there’s a small collection of them, each has its own individual personality and charm. Bring your family, your friends, or just yourself. It’s the ideal retreat.”

The spacious site at Ashey will also allow for a range of retro events and themed breaks throughout the year, as well as being an ideal location for weddings and private parties.

The family-run farm has a shop, containing local produce including eggs, milk, beef, pork and a wide variety of freshly picked vegetables.

Guests will be able to pre-order breakfast baskets with locally sourced ingredients grown and reared directly on the farm.

“The coronavirus crisis has brought everyone back to basics,” Sarah said.

“This opportunity presents a natural synergy with our existing business model.

"Not only via our love of all things retro but it has always been Jack Up’s ethos to benefit local businesses.

"As well as supporting the farm we've been able to provide welcome employment opportunities for several of the small businesses and freelancers who form a key part of our events.

"It’s been a tough two years for the sector and in addition to the odd weekend here and there, we’re now able to offer continuous employment for seven months of the year while furthering relationships with local contractors and suppliers.”

Retro Staycations is now taking for bookings for 2022 at retrostaycations.co.uk
