IT'S the end of the Nightingale Hotel in Shanklin — and the owner says the controversial black painted walls and murals are going.

Dino Joachim said he has turned over a new leaf and — in his words — "after six years of parties, noise, chaos and controversy" he is turning the hotel into a holistic healing retreat.

He told the County Press: "I'm closing down the hotel, I've actually shut it down already, so it is the end of the Nightingale Hotel."

He plans to ditch the Gothic and black themes and instead the hotel will be revamped into the Emerald Healing Centre, in colours of dazzling white, gold and emerald.

The swimming pool is being turned into a peace garden complete with 16ft high tepee, the former 'castle room' is going to be used for massages and the bar will lose its Gothic look and instead become a space for yoga and Tai Chi.

The restaurant will remain as it is, serving vegetarian and vegan food only.

The reason for the change is that Dino says he has left behind his previous lifestyle of "drugs, alcohol and rock 'n' roll" after meeting a healer who herself had drastically changed her path in life.

After spending time at her healing retreat in Portugal, his plans for his own venue are now well underway and he plans to offer a wide range of treatments and workshops for mind, body and soul.

Dino has set up a fundraiser for fans to donate to help the transformation. Find it on his social media pages.

The hotel, on Queens Road, offers 27 bedrooms.

Previously, as the Nightingale Hotel, it achieved notoriety for its exterior decor in 2018.

Then it was the subject of complaints over its public stance over Covid regulations last year, before hitting the headlines again for its controversial 9/11 party.
