A total of 107 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the government's daily update for the Isle of Wight, today (Tuesday).

The Isle of Wight's rolling average rose to 629.7, per 100,000 people, in the seven days to December 23.

The current UK average is 1,145.4 per 100,000 people, meanwhile, with some parts of England, including much of greater London and parts of Manchester, recording the impact of the fast-spreading Omicron variant.

According to the latest hospital data, which lags one week behind current figures, there were 22 patients with Covid-19 in St Mary's in Newport on Tuesday, December 21.

Three people were being treated in ventilation beds.

Meanwhile, the data recording deaths in hospital on the Isle of Wight has not been updated since Christmas Eve.
