BERYL e-scooters have available in areas around the Isle of Wight since its launch in November 2020.
It has been revealed that 156,924 miles in 73,478 journeys in 2021, which is equivalent to over six times around the world.
Beryl’s Demographic Report 2021 claims just 9 per cent of riders on the Island are aged between 16 to 24, with the age group most likely to use Beryl e-scooters, at 30 per cent, being 55 to 64-year-olds.
The report claims six per cent of Island riders are aged 65 or older.
The survey also found that 41 per cent of journeys taken in Isle of Wight were for leisure, and that 79 per cent of riders have used an e-scooter to replace a car, van, or taxi journey
It showed that on the Island, the most important factor when choosing a micro mobility service is convenience, with 88 per cent of users citing this as ‘very important’.
Beryl CEO, Phil Ellis said: ‘’We are delighted to see so many people on the Isle of Wight making use of our scheme, in what has been a very challenging year for everyone.
“By getting more people out of the car and using our bikes and scooters, Beryl will continue to play a key role in boosting public health and reducing traffic congestion as well as improving air quality and reducing carbon emissions.’’
There is a chance that Beryl could seek to expand its Island services, with 60 per cent of users open to using shared e-bikes, 50 per cent to shared pedal bikes, 49 per cent to e-mopeds, and 45 per cent to shared cargo bikes.
As a special Christmas offer, Beryl is offering up to 15 minutes of free rides (including free unlock) on all Beryl vehicles on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.
