The Isle of Wight's Floating Bridge will run from 7am until 2pm on Christmas Day.

It will not operate in the afternoon and evening.

However, the Isle of Wight Council, says 'as a gesture of goodwill', it will be free, for cars and pedestrians, on December 25.

The local authority said it was to 'thank passengers for their patience during recent repair works.'

The chain ferry returned to service on Monday, after spending more than three months out of action.

Christmas Eve: 5.15am to 12.30am (next day)

Christmas Day: 7am to 2pm

Boxing Day: 7am to 12.30am (next day)

December 27, 28 and 29: 5am to 12.30am (next day)

New Year’s Eve: 5am to 12.30am (next day) (Last crossing from East Cowes 1.10am, last crossing from Cowes 1.20am)
