If now is the right time to bring a four-legged friend into your life, perhaps one of the dogs at RSPCA Isle of Wight could be your new BFF.
It costs more than £1,700 per day to run the Island’s animal centre, which can care for in excess of 250 animals at any one time.
As well as the income generated from charity shops, the charity relies on cash donations from the public to continue to provide care for animals in need.
And it's not just cash donations – it also has food drop off locations, currently found at Asda and Jolley's in Newport and Morrison's, Lake.
The RSPCA also accepts unopened and sealed bags, cans, and pouches of dog food, along with cat food both wet and dry and small animal food for rabbits and guinea pigs.
If you are on the lookout for a new canine chum though, check out these perfect pooches - perhaps one of them will end up coming home with you.

Luna
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossbreed
Age: Approximately 5 years
Luna is a gorgeous girl who needs experienced owners to offer her a secure and loving forever home.
She will need to be shown that it's okay to be left alone as she does suffer with separation anxiety.
Luna can be affectionate with the people closest to her and enjoys some fuss on her terms.
She can be worried by more formal handling and will need an adult-only home, with owners comfortable reading her body language, understanding when she needs space.
She can also be unsure of new people and would benefit from a home without too many visitors so that she can feel safe and secure.
Luna is light on her feet so will require a fully enclosed garden with high fencing as she can clear 5ft fencing if left unsupervised.

Ojo
Breed: Crossbreed
Age: Approximately 2 years
Have you ever thought about adopting a rescue dog from overseas?
If the answer is yes, Ojo may be the one for you. He is a medium sized dog who was found as a puppy on the streets of Thailand.
Taken into a Thai rescue centre, he was cared for there whilst awaiting a home.
Ojo is a young and bouncy boy who came into the RSPCA's care when his previous owner could no longer care for him.
He hasn’t had much experience of the day-to-day things most take for granted, so will need a new owner who has the time and patience to show him that life doesn't have to be scary.
He will need a quiet, adult only home with someone who is around most of the day.
Ojo would benefit from a home with a large fully enclosed garden or a small holding where he could feel safe whilst he learns that traffic and strangers can be a positive thing.
He could possibly live with another dog in the home, pending a positive introduction, to help him to flourish into a confident, happy boy.
Once you have gained Ojo's trust he is a real little character, he loves having a run but most of all sitting on his human’s laps having a cuddle.
Although Ojo has shown he can walk nicely with some dogs he can be selective on his choices.
Ben
Breed: Springer Spaniel cross Labrador
Age: Approximately 10 years
Ben is looking for a kind-hearted person or persons to take him into their home and love him as much as everyone does at the centre.
Ben is definitely a real character. He is an older boy who is looking for a nice calm home for his retirement, without children or other animals.
Having said this, he is very lively and is dog reactive, so his new owners would need to have a fully enclosed secure garden where he can be safe off lead.

Sam
Breed: German Shepherd crossbreed
Age: Approximately 11 years
Sam is liked by everyone he meets. He loves a fuss and will ask for more fuss if you stop.
He is an easy-going dog, making him a pleasure to look after.
He is a young pup in a senior doggy’s body and will occasionally play with his ball with his fosterer's teenage sons.
He also enjoys his food and likes his afternoon snooze.
He is a little slow paced on his walks but despite his age and his arthritis he is happy to be out and about socializing with other dogs, making lots of doggy friends on Appley Beach and chilling at the cafe with his foster parents.
The foster family have discovered that he does not like Family Fortunes and will bark at the buzzer, which they find quite amusing. In fact, when any quiz show buzzer sounds, he will join in.
He would suit a home where there is someone around most of the day.
He could potentially live with another older dog pending introductions and with children aged 13 and above.
