TWO people remain in hospital, promping a police appeal for witnesses, following yesterday's (Wednesday) serious road traffic incident involving a double-decker bus.
The bus reached the junction with East Lane ay 5.55pm, and left the road and crashed into a nearby field.
Isle of Wight Ambulance Service transferred 11 people to St Mary’s Hospital.
Three people were treated by its Urgent Treatment Centre.
Eight people were admitted into the Emergency Department, of which six have since been discharged.
Two men remain in hospital; however, their injuries are described as 'not critical.’
The double-decker bus stayed upright in the incident, but Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service crews used cutting gear to free two people.
The bus has since been removed from the field, and the operator says it has ruled out a mechanical fault.
