THERE are two new places to buy good quality second-hand goods and help animals at the same time.
The Island’s RSPCA has reopened at a new premises in Newport and Friends of the Animals has opened a store in Ryde.
The RSPCA's new shop is at 6-8 Carisbrooke Road, at the top of Newport High Street.
It is fully stocked with clothes, household items, toys and games – just in time for the main Christmas shopping season.
All money raised from the shop will go towards caring for animals at the charity’s rehoming and wildlife centre in Godshill.
The charity, which receives no direct finding from the national RSPCA, relies on donations and funds raised through its four charity shops, located in Newport, Ventnor, Cowes and Sandown.
The animal charity was forced to move from its previous shop in St James’ Street after it was served notice by the landlord.
Staff worked hard to find an alternative store and have been busy preparing for its opening.
The shop will be open Monday to Saturday between 10am and 4.30pm.
In Ryde, Friends of the Animals has opened at the former Edinburgh Woollen Mill shop at 181 High Street.
The ribbon was cut by charity founder Helen Sinclair.
The charity reported sales of an incredible £1,651 on the first day, which was busy with a crowd of shoppers.
The shop will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am till 4pm.
