ISLAND Line services have been suspended this afternoon (Monday) due to a cable fire next to the track.
One fire engine from Shanklin was called to the rear of Grayswood Close, Sandown, at 15:44pm today following a report of a fire in a cable feeding a live rail.
The fire had self-extinguished before the arrival of firefighters.
The incident was handed over to an Island line representative.
There is now a shuttle bus service operating between St Johns Road and Ryde Pier Head.
Island Line services were resumed this morning, following £26 million of improvements and ten months of works, as the much-awaited refurbished trains replaced the old-style tube trains.
⛔ Unfortunately the line is part suspended between Ryde St Johns Road and Shanklin due to a fire next to the track, a shuttle service will be in place between St Johns Road and Pier Head.
