A walker believes he has found an extremely rare blue lobster on Brook beach.

The beautiful brightly-coloured creature, although dead and missing a claw, is a stunning specimen.

Daniel Livingstone, from London, contacted the County Press after finding it washed up at Brook.

He said: "When walking along Brook beach I was about to turn back when I looked down and saw this blue lobster next to my feet.

"I Googled blue lobster and was surprised to see that apparently the chances of catching one are one in two million.

"I didn't know what to do to somehow preserve it so I put it in my sink covered in ice for now, while I have a think.

"It was definitely a stroke of luck finding it and I thought it was worth sharing my photos with others as it shows you should always keep an eye out for this sort of thing."

Experts believe the odds of catching a blue lobster are one in two million, so has Daniel hit the jackpot?

Isle of Wight County Press:

Daniel, 22, a regular visitor to the Island as he has family here, intends to record his find with the Coastguard.

Blue lobsters acquire their unusual colour through a genetic defect, but it makes them more vulnerable as they can't camouflage so easily.

Their colour gets more pronounced as they age.

The BBC has previously reported British expert, Andrew Parker, of Oxford University's zoology department, saying a blue lobster is a one-in-two-million find.
