An Isle of Wight hotel is one of just ten winners of a Good Hotel Guide César Award for 2022.
Described as a Scandi-designed 18th century thatched cottage in Ventnor, it sits alongside venues in Belfast, Wiltshire, Wales, Scotland and Devon.
Hillside in Ventnor has been named Island Hotel of the Year and offers, says the Good Hotel Guide, an "18th century thatched cottage on the outside, Scandinavian-inspired world within".
The Guide says: "Hillside overlooks the Victorian seaside splendour of Ventnor and is palpably infused with hygge harmony."
It adds: "Danish-born owner Gert Bach openly displays his passions for both food and art: his seasonal menu is a French-Scandi fusion; his collection of vivid avant-garde canvases is seriously enviable."
Established in 1978, the Good Hotel Guide is an independent UK hotel guide and its awards, named after César Ritz, are considered to be the Oscars of the hotel industry.
Ten key awards are handed to hotels that the Guide feels have demonstrated consistent excellence in their field.
