A MAN who attacked a woman by biting and with a sexual motivation has been given a suspended sentence.
Matthew Sutherland, 36, of Fort Street, Sandown, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the day of his trial last month.
The attack took place on August 7 and magistrates found that the offence was committed in breach of bail conditions, involved bites and had a sexual motivation.
He denied assault by beating the same victim, and the charge was dismissed by the Crown Prosecution Service.
He was given 26 weeks in custody, suspended for 12 months, and must undergo a rehabilitation activity requirement for ten days and undertake an alcohol treatment course for six months.
He was made subject of a two year restraining order not to contact his victim, plus costs of £350, and a surcharge of £128.
