THE Isle of Wight Steam Railway is challenging runners to ‘Race the Train’ on Saturday, November 6.
The new event for 2021 features a 5km route between the stations at Wootton and Havenstreet.
Runners will travel onboard the train to the start line at Wootton station, where the race will begin with the sound of the locomotive’s whistle.
Competitors will attempt to make it back to Havenstreet before the train, which will navigate the full-length line to Smallbrook Junction and back.
General manager, Steve Backhouse, said: “Race the Train is a great way to get active this autumn.
“Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a park run plodder, or an active family, this promises to be an event to remember.”
Entry is just £15 for adults and £10 for under 18s and will include a train journey and a medal for all runners.
Want to come along and cheer on the racers?
Non-running supporters can join the train to give much moral support and a cheery boost.
