All pupils in years 10 and 11 at Ryde School are learning from home, after a rise in the number of Covid-19 cases.
Ryde School says it wrote to parents on Wednesday evening, asking them to keep children at home until Monday, October 4.
It says the decision was taken due to a number of confirmed cases of coronavirus and all have been asked to take a lateral flow test before returning to class on Monday.
Those at home have switched to online learning and the school is open to other year groups.
Head Master Mark Waldron said: "We are closely monitoring the current situation and this was not an instruction to isolate, merely a precautionary measure to allow a four day break for those year groups.
"Parents, staff and parents have, as always, been asked to remain vigilant in protecting our school and the wider community."
As the Isle of Wight County Press previously reported this week, children of secondary school age are currently recording the highest number of Covid-19 cases on the Isle of Wight.
