TEAM members from pub company and brewer, Greene King, are taking on the challenge of travelling in only a Tuk Tuk to more than 40 of its pubs across the country — including several on the Isle of Wight.
With only the transport of a petrol-fuelled Tuk Tuk, the keen fundraising team have a rigorous plan to cover more than 1,000 miles in nine days to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The challenge launched on September 21 in Manchester, and the team is currently travelling to meet the pub teams raising vital funds for Macmillan.
Today (Friday), the team took a ferry to the Isle of Wight to visit Ryde's Castle Hotel and The Crab in Shanklin, with their challenge concluding at the London Marathon on Sunday, October 3.
The money raised from the Tuk Tuk challenge, and further fundraising activities in the company, will help Macmillan Cancer Support to provide physical, financial and emotional support for people living with cancer.
Since 2012, Greene King team members and guests have raised a staggering £9 million for Macmillan.
Cheryl Donlan, Events Co-ordinator for Greene King Pub Carveries, said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to my team who are travelling with me, and everyone who has helped to support the challenge so far.
"Sadly, many of us know somebody living with cancer and challenges like these are a great way to involve the local community and support such an important cause.”
