WATER supply has been restored to Newport homes, Southern Water has confirmed, following torrential rain last night (Tuesday).
The water provider says repairs to a burst water main on Staplers Road have now been completed, though residents may notice some discolouration when they first run the tap.
"This is completely normal when there’s been a disruption in supply and is only temporary," said a spokesperson for Southern Water.
"Your water supply has now been restored and the problem fixed.
"Again, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused."
A bottled water station had been set up in the town earlier in the day, while Southern Water engineers worked to remedy the problem.
Tankers were also sent to the area to deliver extra supplies to the network.

Problems first arose yesterday evening, with properties in Cowes, East Cowes and Gurnard among the areas affected.
A pipe burst between Newport and Cowes, and at midnight, a second burst had been reported on Staplers Road.
