One person has sustained serious, but not life-threatening, injuries after an accident on Coppins Bridge today (Tuesday).
Police were called at 3.38pm to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a moped at the junction of Pyle Street and Coppins Bridge.
Isle of Wight Police confirmed: "The injury to the rider is serious but thankfully it is not deemed to be life threatening."
Coppins Bridge, between Pyle Street and Newport High Street, was closed to give emergency services space to deal with the incident.
"The casualty is now on their way to hospital and the road is now open," said police.
Traffic is now flowing in all directions around Coppins Bridge and surrounding roads.
