HIGH security prisoners at HMP Isle of Wight have been offered badges to wear to display their preferred pronouns.
The prison tweeted a photo of the badges in advance of National Inclusion Week, which starts today.
It said: "In preparation for National Inclusion Week our equalities team have started distributing pronoun badges. What's your pronoun?"
It means prisoners can publicly display the pronouns they would like to be used, such as her/they, him/he, she/her. There is also a badge that says "ask me".
Charity, Stonewall, says badges help prevent misgendering.
The category B prison is described on Gov.UK as a high security men’s prison, set across two sites (Albany and Parkhurst).
It holds about 1,000 prisoners across two separate sites, almost all serving long sentences for sexual offences but with a small number on remand.
