A THATCHED cottage is on fire tonight in what the fire service have described as a serious incident.
Fire crews from Newport, Freshwater, Cowes and East Cowes are all in attendance, along with two water carriers. An aerial ladder platform (ALP) is on its way.
A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "It is a house on fire and it is pretty serious. We have four pumps in attendance, two water carriers and an ALP on the way."
The property is on Elm Lane near the Middle Road.

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has a car and personnel in attendance but only on standby. There are no casualties, a spokesperson said.
